‘It’s Gonna Be Alright’ according to soul man Carlton Jumel Smith
The third single to be shared from the third instalment of German label Golden Rules‘ compilation series The Originals comes from New York-based soul man Carlton Jumel Smith, who had his debut on Timmion Records. His exclusive contribution is a warm and soulful anthem called “It’s Gonna Be Alright”, which delivers a fresh drum break, smooth guitar lines and a lovely horn section – all making space for the powerful voice of Carlton Jumel Smith.
From Harlem to Helsinki, the language of Carlton Jumel Smith speaks of loyalty and love. The smooth, vintage groove of his debut album, 1634 Lexington Avenue traces the upbringing of an 8-year-old soul music fanatic growing up in Spanish Harlem (El Barrio) all the way to Helsinki, Finland as well as all over the world.
Channeling warmth, positivity and only good vibes, with every note escaping from deep inside his soul, Carlton Jumel Smith is an infectious human being. Putting the “show” into show business, he emits a dedication to his craft whilst performing. Having been raised at the feet of the masters – James Brown, Al Green, Bobby Womack, The Temptations, The Dramatics, etc. – Carlton has always vowed to give it his all and leave it all onstage. He feels the audience deserves no less than his absolute best. His mantra is “LONG LIVE SOUL MUSIC” and he is the embodiment of that sentiment.
