Seattle’s The Oscillators drop two new tunes on doubler-sider 45
Hot on the heels of their self-titled debut album, Seattle funk supergroup The Oscillators drop two brand new, non-album tunes on limited edition doubler-sider 45 with only 300 hand-number copies printed via Solid Funk, a division of Tramp Records.
A-side “Cosmonaut” is a swingin’ slice of bluesy funk with a psychedelic edge, where a fuzzy horn line floats over a dirty drum beat before a stankin’ guitar solo kicks in. B-side “Off The Clock” goes more in the direction of the blaxploitation soundtracks of the 70s, with wah wahs aplenty and a killer bassline.
Using the same process they used to record the album, called “stackin’ phat”, using minimal gear, 4 tracks, layering and bouncing, The Oscillators deliver another irresistible slice of deep funk with a psychedelic nudge.
More than a band, The Oscillators is an experimental recording collaboration that turned out swimmingly. Led by drummer Olli Klomp, the lineup of The Oscillators features members of The Polyrhythmics, Rippin’ Chicken, the Pulsations, Lucky Brown, the Trueloves, 45th Street Brass, The S.G.’s, and more…
“Cosmonaut” / “Off The Clock” out on 45 / Digital on July 28th via Solid Funk
