Jafunk remixes ‘Complicated Plant’ by Estonian band Gram-Of-Fun
Estonian group Gram-of-Fun (GOF) breaks nu-funk bread with Jafunk on their latest single “Complicated Plant”. The track grew out of the friendship of GOF‘s honcho Dr.PhilGood and the Lisbon-based Australian producer Jafunk. Remixed by the latter, “Complicated Plant” offers juicy basslines spiked with catchy synth riffs, watered by laid-back vocals that land on a percussive yet solid 4-4 soil. A fruitful collaboration of international proportions provides a partystarter ready to spoil your soul in the best possible sense.
The creative hedonists that form Gram-of-Fun have won Band Of the Year and Début Album Of the Year at the 2023 Estonian Music Awards and now this is their first release on Funk Embassy Records. With loosely defined genre borders, the plant that is GOF grows in the direction of its members moods and inspirations. They’ve supported Jungle recently and like to treat people to a soulful, danceable experience in live setting as a 6-piece.
Jafunk is a staple in the nu-funk community. His remix of Set Mo‘s “Chasing Forever” put him on the map with over 4 million streams on Spotify, and he has followed up with a host of singles receiving millions of streams. His music has garnered international radio play on stations such as BBC Radio 1 UK, Radio FG France and Triple J Australia, and has been featured on tastemaker channels such as Majestic Casual, The Sound You Need, and Selected. In 2023 his discography on Spotify clocked in 26.4 million streams by 5.1 million listeners around the world.
