Psychedelic salsa in single ‘Casa Loca feat. Baldu Verdú’ by Rio 18
“Casa Loca” is the new single and opening track of Rio 18 and Carwyn Ellis‘ upcoming album Radio Chevere, dropping on Légère Recordings in September, and is a sensational slab of psychedelic salsa.
Translatable as “mad house” in English, “Casa Loca” is fronted by Baldo Verdú, the super talented Venezuelan percussionist and multi-instrumentalist of Rio 18. Funky, brassy, sassy and jazzy. On one level, “Casa Loca” invites you into a wonky fairground-type house where nothing is as it seems. On another level however, it’s about leaving our troubles at the door and dancing the madness away: as guest DJ Coco Maria says on the song’s intro on the new album, “The world might be a mad house, but here, we’re all good.”
