The Mighty Mocambos ‘Open The Gate’ to upcoming new album
“Open The Gate” is the new single by Hamburg’s finest in funk The Mighty Mocambos, and with it the band announces its upcoming new album A Higher Frequency, scheduled for release on LP and Digitally on June 6th 2025.
“Open The Gate” is the track that opens the new album and it sets the pace immediately with a propulsive, adventurous feel, dramatic crime brass, outernational soundscapes and the kind of hard-hitting breakbeats that have become a staple of The Mighty Mocambos sound.
This single as well as the new full-length A Higher Frequency were recorded with a nine-piece live to tape at the legendary MPS studio in the Black Forest. The album is full of spiritual grooves, soulful themes, loose funkiness and organic interplay, captured with state-of-the-art 1960s gear in a super-vibey room.
