Barcelona-based project Freedust brings the ‘Heat’ in new video
It may be February, but you can always count on Freedust to cook up a sizzling Summery sound. The Barcelona-based project led by Italian producer Daniele Carmosino is back with their first release of the year – new single and video “Heat” – the titletrack of their new EP.
“Heat” is the perfect remedy to whisk away any lingering winter blues. Harking back to simpler times with its vintage-inspired sound and the cover art depicting an analog camera on the seashore, you can almost feel the sand between your toes!
Press play and you’ll soon realize it is literally impossible not to tap your feet in time with this modern take on rhythm n blues and soul. But you’re in good company, the video showcases the moves and choreography of up-and-coming young dancers from across the globe, bringing home the universal appeal of Freedust‘s sound. Bodies from India, Nigeria, Colombia, Jamaica, Vietnam, Morocco, and Sri Lanka groove together in styles such as hip-hop, Bollywood, b-boying, classical, and modern interpretive.
Italian composer Daniele Carmosino conjures up the Freedust magic by layering pop, jazz, and soul elements on top of trip-hop and electronic influences – recalling St. Germain, Dee-Lite, and Quantic – while breezy, lighthearted female vocals round out the trademark feel-good vibe. It all makes for a track with a distinctly Neo-Soul sound in the vein of alt. R&B divas like Janelle Monae, M.I.A., Nikki Costa, and Solange.
“Heat” at once evokes memories of happy-go-lucky sunny days while looking forward to a carefree summer, free of pandemic woes (fingers crossed!).
The heat is on with Freedust!
