Check out the video to ‘You Don’t Mean It’ from Lucinda Slim’s debut
When soul siren Lucinda Slim released her self-titled debut EP with The Law Men on vinyl in 2015 it came accompanied with a cool video to her cover of The Ohio Players‘ tune “You Don’t Mean It”. Hot on the heels of the long-awaited digital release of that EP on Haggis Records on September 28th, we thought it was time to dust off this cool black and white clip with the smoldering Lucinda.
Lucinda Slim‘s debut features songs co-written by legendary Northern Soul DJ Keb Darge (creator of the Deep Funk nights at London’s Madame Jojo‘s), Gabe Roth (bass-player, producer and songwriter of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings) and Belgium’s finest musicians in the form of The Law Men. The album takes you back to the golden age of 60s soul meets Southern blues and funk with sweet gospel influenced harmonies, dark twists and turns and bone-grinding grooves that will stir you so deep you ‘will wanna slap your mama!
And if you’re a vinyl lover who let this slip away the first time, fear not, there is hope. Haggis Records are starting a waiting list for a repress of the vinyl. If they get enough people then we will do a second run, just shoot an email to ben@haggisrecords.com to put your name down.
“Lucinda Slim” out Sep. 28th on Digital download via Haggis Records
