Final single ‘La Lucha’ from Danzón El Gato’s upcoming debut album
“La Lucha” is the third and final single lifted from enigmatic Madrid-based combo Danzón El Gato‘s upcoming debut album El Sonido Bastardo, that fuses a kaleidoscope of rhythms and sonic landscapes with beats inspired equally by 1970s library music and golden era hip hop, spiced up with exotic afro-latin-psych grooves.
The creative core of Danzón El Gato is formed by Javier Adán (guitar) and Santiago Rapallo (drums and percussion), two craftsmen of sound, far from the spotlight but always at the forefront.
“La Lucha” kicks off with a deep, heavy groove driven by a wah-wah guitar that cuts through like a blade. The Madrid duo is joined by a powerful horn section and the track drips with raw, defiant soul, setting the perfect stage for Puerto Rican vocalist Marina (of Marina y su Melao) to deliver a fierce and impassioned performance. Half-sung, half-spoken, her verses hit with grit and conviction.
El Sonido Bastardo will be released on LP / Digitally on April 5th 2025 via Lovemonk Records.
