Go.Soul.Map announces debut album with nu disco & cosmic soul 45
Behind the alias Go.Soul.Map. lies Salvo ‘Dub’ Bruno, one of the purest and most authentic talents of the contemporary music scene in Catania, Sicily. Under various other guises and names, he has been an indispensable pillar of the city’s scene for over a decade, and is now announcing his debut album, to be released on February 28th 2024 via Space Echo, anticipated by a double-sider 45.
On the A-side is “Pushing”, an explosive slice of nu-disco that feels modern while also remaining firmly rooted in the past, with a production that enhances the sound of the keyboards. Full of 70s/80s-era funk and soul, it also has a disco-pop vein that makes it extremely radio-friendly and contagious. The track features Derane Obika of Living Sounds, a Londoner of Nigerian origin. As well as being an exceptional singer, Derane is also the author of the song’s melodic lines and lyrics, which can be interpreted as a dialogue between an imaginary interlocutor and his spiritual guide journeying through the maze of life.
On the flip of this 45 is an exclusive instrumental version of “Back In The Underwater”, a track that combines a hip-pop groove with cinematic atmospheres, of which the original sung by Reiwa Pia will be included on the full-length.
Go.Soul.Map.‘s debut album is titled Peaceful Sound for Broken Minds and is a little gem at the intersection between pop and soul, while blurring the lines between mainstream and underground. A space-disco, nu-disco, soul and r&b journey in which Derane Obika‘s fundamental contribution to the lyrics and melodies stand out in no less than 9 out of the total 12 tracks! This is a greatly anticipated album made for the ears of discerning music lovers and performed and produced by musicians with a shared love for the art of music.
