Koko-Jean & The Tonics release sophomore album ‘Love Child’
We often turn to music either to change our mood or to reinforce it. Who hasn’t licked their wounds after a bad breakup by listening to the saddest songs possible?
If you found their first album uplifting or heartfelt, get ready for this new wave of sound. Whether you’re looking for one thing or the other, you’ll find it on Love Child, the second full-length by Barcelona’s retro soul bomb Koko-Jean & The Tonics.
With tracks like “Gonna Be A Party Tonight”, “The Spin”, and “You Can’t Sit Down”, you’ll feel like taking to the streets and breaking into wild dancing. Meanwhile, songs like “Never Ever”, “Down on My Knees” and “I Can’t Stand You” will make you wish for grey skies to break out into romantic rain.
Once again, the chemistry forged over the 10-year trajectory of stage moments between Miss Koko-Jean and The Tonics is evident in this 12-track album. With original tunes that, as always, inspire you to feel, live, and love with all the intensity possible, they have given birth to their Love Child!
Koko-Jean & The Tonics are a bomb full of soul, rhythm and groove. As front-woman we have Miss Koko-Jean Davis (former singer of The Excitements). Petite and delicate at first glance, don’t be fooled by her appearance, because Koko is a whirlwind on stage. She’ll move you with a ballad or the rawness of the blues, she can raise your temperature in a few seconds with her rock’n’roll and soul. On drums we have Anton Jarl, a real rhythmic beast who puts power into every beat with his elegant yet rock’n’roller style. Dani “Patillas” Baraldés is the chameleon guitarist who makes you vibrate with the howls of his guitar. And finally we have Victor Puertas on the Hammond, one of the most recognized blues-men and harmonicists in Catalonia. His swing and groove are an essential part of this group.
