MT Jones releases third single ‘Put Me Through’ from his debut EP
MT Jones presents “Put Me Through”, the penultimate offering from his self-titled debut EP set for release this coming September. “Put Me Through” is a rhythmic funky soul number and an exploration of the toxicity experienced in early relationships, and the ways in which people play with each other’s emotions.
“This is a song about the chaos of an early relationship, being conscious that you might be being played, but you’re also into it, so in a way happy to go along for the ride” – MT Jones
“Put Me through” follows previous releases “All I Do” & “Tough Love” both of which recount the feelings of regret which arise when a love is lost. MT Jones gathers inspiration from 60s and 70s soul greats, modern R&B and jazz, evoking a sound that is both contemporary and timeless. His deeply soulful & distinctive vocals transport you straight back to a smoke-filled speak easy, whilst bringing a sound that feels fresh and innovative.
Jones began busking in Liverpool at the age of 12 and since then has travelled the world as a musician, most recently as support for Jalen Ngonda on his European tour. Lockdown Provided the time and space to put his talent under his own name, releasing his debut single “I Won’t Ever Say Goodbye” in 2022, a soulful, heart-on-sleeve ballad that marked the start of an exciting string of releases. Growth has moved fast, and now singles have gained support from Craig Charles on BBC 6 Music, Trevor Nelson on BBC Radio 2 and across Jazz FM. Jones has also received strong support from BBC introducing, with multiple spins across the network, and a feature as a “Step up” artist on 1Xtra.
In late 2023, he released as a limited edition 7-inch vinyl; this first physical offering sold out within weeks. MT Jones global fanbase is growing day by day, evident in his most recent headline tour date (presented by COMMUNION LIVE).
