Samba fusion in ‘Tambor Falou’ by Brazilian musician Wallace Negão
Talented Brazilian singer, songwriter, and master cavaquinho player Wallace Negão has been making a name for himself with his captivating and vibrant blend of samba fusion throughout numerous live shows that include Montreaux Jazz Festival or Santa Barbara Brazilian Day Festival. Following the release of his first single in 2023, a cover of Stevie Wonder’s classic “Ma Cherie Amour”, the time has come for Wallace to reveal his first original song, “Tambour Falou”, written with famed percussionist/ songwriter Sergio Bacalhau.
“Tambour Falou” honours the vibrant tapestry of Brazilian culture by merging the rhythmic spirit of traditional samba with the emotive elements of jazz, funk, and soul music. This samba fusion not only celebrates Brazil’s musical heritage but also showcases how diverse genres can come together to form a unique identity. Lyrically the song celebrates the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira, which incorporates elements of dance, music, acrobatics, and spirituality.
“Tambour Falou” was produced, arranged, and mixed by rising American music producer and composer Dani Mendez with featured horn arrangements by trumpeter and composer João Lenhari.
This single is a first taste of what Wallace Negão has been cooking up for his debut album, with more to be revealed soon!
