Nick Pride & The Pimptones tease upoming album with new single
Newcastle’s slickest funk & soul outfit Nick Pride & The Pimptones tease their upcoming new album “Go Deep” with the video to lead single “Gotta Leave The Lady Alone”, out on double-sider 45 and digital download on May 13th!
“Gotta Leave The Lady Alone” is an uptempo slice of infectious soul-funk, accompanied by a video shot live at Hoults Yard in Newcastle. Both song and video feature young soul singer Beth Macari, no longer just a guest on an album but now a stable component of Nick Pride & The Pimptones.
Backed by deep soul cut “Baby Can We Start Again”, the band’s love for Stax and Motown is evident on both sides of this 45 release. Sweet vocals by Beth Macari glide over killer horns and a pumping rhythm section. The arrangements are tight and punchy, the performances are confident and bold.
Nick Pride & The Pimptones feel happy about their tough and exciting sound: “We often record with guest musicians added to the mix, but these two tracks didn’t need any extras, just the sound of the live band. It’s all about the songs, the arrangement and the energy”.
