Danced Til Midnight is back with new single and video ‘Gravitate’
Essex-based DJ, producer and musician Andy Anderson’s project Danced Til Midnight returns to 2024 with new single “Gravitate”.
“Gravitate” is Danced Til Midnight’s most striking release to date, bringing a beguiling soundscape that is a rapturous blend of elements found in house music, funk, soul, and ambient styles. Enthralling and emotive vocals glide with a transcendence befitting of their celestial symbolism.
From a selector’s perspective, the track is a unique fusing of Balearic disco vibes, jazzy chords, hypnotic bass, a solid funk foundation and deep house overtones to create a groovy production fit for a soulful dancefloor experience. The vocal versions captivate with a cosmic emotive quality, whilst the instrumental provides a deep groove workout at a funking 100 bpm.
The track’s sonics encapsulate the breadth of Andy Anderson’s DJ sets – featuring deep house chords and drum sounds, scratchy guitars, all underpinned by an infectiously hypnotic funky rhythm. It is above this foundation that returning vocalist Elize’s vocals float, weaving a tale of star-crossed lovers articulated through universally resonating cosmic imagery and symbolism.
The video, shot in the crypt of St George’s Church in London’s West End, depicts a dancer’s reverie, appealing to the universe in realisation of their passion. This filmic rendition of the song interprets the themes of cosmological yearning into this setting, where an aspirant and their ambition long to be united. Capturing the artistic spirit within the subterranean performance space of the Museum of Comedy channels the rich heritage of theatre associated with this area of London.
