NMS and Lamar Williams Jr. release second single ‘Kings & Queens’
Following up on first single “Let’s Go Back“, a bluesy midtempo number released digitally on May 14th, funk supergroup The New Mastersounds give another taste of upcoming album “Shake It” with new track “Kings & Queens”, once again featuring the vocals of Lamar Williams Jr.
“Kings & Queens” is a go-to for a funky, punchy, feel-good love song. A true team effort, the song started out as a bouncy drum groove crafted by drummer Simon Allen that would be filled out by Pete Shand’s joyful bass line and Lamar Williams Jr’s radiant lyrics. At the halfway point, listeners are treated to a blues-laced guitar solo by Eddie Roberts before concluding the dynamic ‘Average White Band meets Marvin Gaye’ tune. Celebrating 20 years as a band, The New Mastersounds’ new studio album, “Shake It” showcases the collaboration between the quartet and Williams through an ear-opening milestone recording.
