What they say…
“Wallace Negão’s music brings together the sounds and aesthetics that formed him as an artist, from Stevie Wonder to the peripheral sounds of Rio de Janeiro!”
MusicaPave
Born in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, Wallace Negão is a talented singer, songwriter, and master cavaquinho player, now transforming the musical landscape from his base in France. His genre-defying style, which he proudly dubs as samba fusion, is a foot-tapping blend of traditional samba rhythms with the sophistication of jazz, the soulful grooves of funk, and eclectic world music influences.
Wallace Negão’s musical odyssey began with the charismatic sounds of samba, influenced by legends such as Jorge Aragão and Seu Jorge, while also drawing inspiration from global icons like Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. It’s this unique amalgamation of cultural and musical influences that led Wallace to forge his distinctive sound.
His journey has been a series of extraordinary milestones, from opening for Brazilian music legends such as Ivete Sangalo and Fundo de Quintal to gracing prestigious stages like the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Moreover, his recent endeavors in the United States, including performances at the Santa Barbara Brazilian Day Festival, Hotel Ziggy in West Hollywood, and The Merc in Temecula, California, underscore his growing international appeal.
Wallace’s first single was a cover of Stevie Wonder‘s “My Cherie Amour” in 2023, in a beautifully reimagined Portuguese rendition adapted by Christophe Monteiro. Wallace then released “Tambor Falou” in October 2024, a compelling single that honors Brazilian culture and introduces listeners to his samba fusion style. Co-written with Sergio Bacalhau, the track highlights the multifaceted art of capoeira, weaving dance, music, and spirituality into the cultural narrative.
Looking ahead, Wallace Negão is putting the finishing touches on his debut studio album, promising to deliver more groundbreaking singles and to extend his concert tours across Europe and the United States. Currently based in France, Wallace continues to enchant audiences in Europe and the United States, bringing his Samba Fusion movement to new heights.
