Shimmering disco pop in first single & video ‘1979’ by Luna Soul
“1979” is the first single from First Move, the debut album by German-Spanish duo Luna Soul, and it draws on the melodic and groovy side of 70s and 80s soul, adding some cool pop smoothness to an infectious backbeat.
Written by Luna Soul singer Lisa Michèle Lietz and guitarist Jordi Arnau Rubio, “1979” tells the story of young love blossoming under the magic of a summer solstice night. “It’s a tale of romance and possibility, set against the backdrop of sun-soaked days and starry evenings. As the music swells, it captures the bittersweet beauty of fleeting moments and the enduring memories they leave behind”, Lietz and Rubio explain. “1979” is a track that not only makes you want to move but also transports you to a world where time slows down, and the glow of summer feels endless.
Produced by the talented Joel Sarakula, “1979” presents a lush combination of rhythmic bass, shimmering synths, and the delicate touch of Spanish guitar, creating a soundscape that feels both retro and fresh, echoing the golden era of disco while carrying a unique modern twist.
