Sicilian producer Galathea releases ‘Sacred Love feat. Giulia La Rosa’
Galathea is the moniker with which Sicilian producer and DJ Massimo Napoli makes music that is an eclectic melting pot of influences: from global grooves to afro-latin inspirations, from spiritual soul-jazz musings to hypnotic echoes of dub, cinematic sounds and infectious disco-tinged beats.
His new single “Sacred Love” will be available digitally and on 7 inch via Space Echo in 2 different versions.
Side A sets off with a Tony Allen-esque afrobeat rhythm that develops into a trance-inducing jazz number performed by singer Giulia La Rosa, whose lyrical musings are reminiscent of Nine Simone’s “See-Line Woman”.
Side B, the “Clapping Version”, is without the drums and will surely provide fodder for modern DJs of the genre who want to mix different grooves.
Sacred Love is also the title of Galathea’s upcoming album due out in January 2024. The project once again sees Massimo Napoli collaborate with his friend, producer and bass player Salvo Dub, as well as a combo of respected musicians: singer Kadi Koulibaly – originally from Burkina Faso – already featured on the first album, pianist Mario Pappalardo, percussionist Sergio Spitaleri, and drummer Luciano Cantone.
