Soul man Danny Toeman reveals 2 new tunes on double-sider 45
With spins on BBC Radio 2, sold out headline shows, and most noticeably, supporting the legendary Diana Ross on one of her rare UK performances, 2022 has already been a banner year for singer Danny Toeman, the man dubbed by critics as “The King of North London Soul”. Now Danny is proud to present his newest 2 tunes, out on double-sider 45 and digitally via LRK Records.
A-side “When the Lights Go Down” is an uptempo slice of funky disco-soul and was released ahead of the physical product, reaching the Top 20 of the Official UK Soul Chart. Inspired by the Philly Soul of groups like the O’Jays and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, this tune is about finding the keys to the heart of a woman who just can’t be satisfied and comes alongside a cool video featuring retro dance troupe The Meyer Dancers.
Complementing the feel-good vibes of side A, side B’s “Feel My Soul” is a lushly orchestrated affair that follows in the tradition of classic 60s soul ballads from the likes of Jackie Wilson and Ray Charles. The soaring violins of “Feel My Soul” can only play second fiddle to Danny’s dramatic, gospel-infused vocals. A pleading cry to give true love a chance, the song has been a popular staple of Danny’s live set for years, electrifying audiences from its melancholic beginning to the impossible high note reached at the end.
With pre-sales already underway and moving fast, this limited edition 45 is destined to become a collectors item!
