The Bamboos launch video to their string version of track ‘Strong’
A year since their latest full-length dropped, Aussie funk-soul ensemble The Bamboos return with a new album with which they celebrate almost 2 decades of musical output. Instead of putting together a collection of “Greatest Hits” though, bandleader, guitarist, songwriter & producer Lance Ferguson has taken a decidedly less conventional approach and produced an orchestral re-imagining of classic cuts from The Bamboos catalog. Scheduled for release on double LP, CD and Digital download on August 2nd, “By Special Arrangement” is a triumph of luscious, sweeping strings, woodwinds and brass that completely reinvent some of the most popular tracks by The Bamboos with the addition of two covers.
In anticipation of the full-length to drop, the band has launched a video clip to their version of “Strong”, originally released by London Grammar. With Kylie Auldist handling vocal duties, the symphonic treatment given to “Strong” magnifies the solitude and redemption inherent in the original, and is a good taste of what to expect on the full-length. The video captures the 20 piece ensemble orchestra as they perform the song, and it was filmed, edited and directed by Ben Jones at Wildbird Films.
