Third single ‘King Of Spain’ from Joel Sarakula’s upcoming album
“King Of Spain” is the third single from Joel Sarakula’s upcoming long player Soft Focus and this tune sees Sarakula exploring latin rock with his smooth and soulful touch. The story of a Spanish wheeler and dealer and occasional scoundrel, it’s loosely inspired by Sarakula‘s experiences touring Spain and some of the people he’s met along the way. But when asked exactly who the “King Of Spain” is, his lips are sealed: “Sorry, I’m not telling!”, he answers.
Produced and written by Sarakula, “King Of Spain” features latin-inspired guitar and percussion, electric sitar, and an elastic, evolving bass line to paint a vibrant, colourful picture of the landscape. “He’s the King of Spain but he goes by many other names. Promises the world but be careful of the price you’ll pay”.
With vocals evoking 1970s blues and west coast legends Boz Scaggs, JJ Cale and Ned Doheny, the instrumental track, richly inspired by the 1970s could also be compared to modern contemporaries Young Gun Silver Fox and Drugdealer.
Soft Focus is scheduled for release on LP, CD and digitally via Légère Recordings on November 8th 2024.
