Vintage League Music presents a night of funk & soul at 100 Club
A special night of top class funk & soul on Friday October 25th at the legendary 100 Club in London! Featuring US band Ae3 (aka Alan Evans Trio) showcasing songs from their brand new album. Plus Vintage League Music record label mates Crowd Company launch a new single from their upcoming new studio album. Support is from Joe Tattion Trio with Joe Tatton of The New Mastersounds and acting as your friendly DJ is Willwork4funk boss and DJ Calamity Jade spinning funk & soul goodies from her record bag.
AE3 aka the ALAN EVANS TRIO
The band’s founder Alan Evans founded and is a member, writer and drummer of over 15 years for iconic band Soulive. In his musical career he has released 14 albums and toured the world, opening for The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer and others. With Danny Mayer on guitar, Kris Yunker on organ and Evans on drums (and occasionally vocals), the Ae3‘s sound is based on deep, funky melodies and powerful, rhythmic counterplay. Ae3 have toured extensively regularly playing sold out shows in some of the world’s most prestigious venues. The band’s new album “The Wild Root“ sees them seamlessly shift from upbeat 60s soul-jazz, to moody, cinematic atmospheres, Summery jazz-funk vibes or heavy-hitting psych-funk grooves. CROWD COMPANY
A modern take on vintage soul funk from highly acclaimed 8-piece band Crowd Company. Brimming with energy, catchy hooks and tight grooves the band combine a Hammond organ-based sound with a virtuoso horn section and 3 soulful singers, often blending multi-part harmonies. Following the release of two studio albums (“Now Or Never“ in 2014 and “Stone & Sky“ in 2017), and one live album (“Live At The Jazz Cafe” in 2019), this outfit is ready to give a first taste of its upcoming album with the launch of a brand new single!
JOE TATTON TRIO
Support is from the Joe Tatton Trio, founded by Joe Tatton, keyboard player with internationally recognized funk veterans The New Mastersounds. The Joe Tatton Trio released double-sider 45 “Bang Bang Boogaloo” / “Sunday Shade” in 2016 on much-respected Leeds label ATA Records. Tonight they will playing funk and soul originals and previewing new material from Joe’s hammond funk trio.
DJ CALAMITY JADE
Hailing from Milan, Italy, DJ Calamity Jade is a DJ, radio host and manager of Willwork4funk promotion agency. From spinning in leading clubs of the funk/soul circuit in Italy and abroad (Germany, France, Switzerland and NYC), or opening/closing for acts such as The New Mastersounds (UK), The Mighty Mocambos (DE), Myles Sanko (UK), and more, Calamity Jade has been incessantly bringing her bags of vinyl goodness to the most discerning ears and funky dancefloors.
