‘You Are The Revolution’ announces new Peyoti For President album
Fronted by UK-raised musician Peyoti, global groove collective Peyoti For President blends ska, reggae, afro & latin rhythms together with a punk attitude that is often expressed through social & political commentary.
Released on April 25th to coincide with Portugal’s Freedom Day, which marks the anniversary of the 1974 revolution, “You Are The Revolution” is the new single by Peyoti For President, which announces upcoming album Your Comfort Zone scheduled to drop on July 4th 2025.
Peyoti is the definition of a world citizen: born to Anglo-Italian parents in England and adopted in Birmingham, he spent time in Cuba in his 20s, moved to Barcelona in 2011, explored Mexico at length and currently resides in Portugal, where “You Are The Revolution” was written and recorded.
The song is a rallying cry, whose social message is immediately made clear from the introduction, which features a Colombian people’s leader, shouting & rousing the people for “power and change”. We are currently experiencing the biggest wealth transfer in modern history, in addition to increased censorship and the removal of fundamental human rights by governments the world over. In this context, this song reminds us that the revolution starts with YOU, with each one of us, because “You are the Revolution that you’ve been waiting for”.
Musically-speaking, “You Are The Revolution” is a prime example of the kind of fusion of styles with which Peyoti has made a name for himself, and it draws equally from the messages of Bob Marley and Fela Kuti whilst simultaneously injecting something very current – the spirit of the present day in 2025. The track features the trademark horn sections that are present throughout the forthcoming album, spoken word by Mexico City’s own Ceci Meza and backing vocals and other instrumentation by local musicians in Portugal.
This is a first taste of Peyoti For President’s highly anticipated sophomore album, and the message is clear: YOU ARE THE REVOLUTION – YOU ARE NOT ALONE….
